Bn. South Staffordshire Regiment, with which he served in Palestine during 1939 and World War Two, including the North Africa Campaign, from October 1942. On 16 October 1943 he was transferred to 5th. Bn. Wiltshire Regiment and took part in the campaign in North-West Europe. He was Mentioned in Despatches - London Gazette dated 4 April 1946. World War Two medals confirmed on Medal Card dated 3 April 1950 on which his address is shown as 51 Dickinson Street, St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham.) : Sold with verification and copy London Gazette entry.
