1526 PRIVATE M. CONNOLLY, 1ST.BN. YORK & LANCASTER REGIMENT
Egypt Campaign Medal 1882-89, undated reverse, bar, 'El-Teb', officially engraved naming - 1526 Pte. M. CONNOLLY, 1/York & Lanc.R. (York & Lancaster Regiment); Khedive's Bronze Star, dated '1884', unnamed as issued : (MICHAEL CONNOLLY - Born around 1849 in the Parish of St. Nicholas, Galway, Ireland, a labourer by trade when at Galway on 14 November 1867 he attested for the 65th.Regiment of Foot. Served at home until 9 January 1871 when the Regiment was deployed for service in India. Left India on 27 February 1884 for service in the Soudan. Present with the Regiment at the Battle of El-Teb on 29 February 1884 where he received a BULLET WOUND TO THE HEAD. Invalided home on 21 April 1884, and remained with the Regiment until 22 November 1887 when he was discharged, 'In consequence of his having been found medically unfit for further service'): Sold with verification and copy Service Papers. Unusual to find a medal with this single bar ("British Battles & Medals") One edge nick to medal rim below the second 'N' of recipient's surname, and light contact pitting but generally - Scarce VF - £745
