Slater, E.Surrey R.) : (PERCY ALFRED SLATER - Born Brentford, Middlesex in January 1894 : He would have served with 1/5th. Battalion, East Surrey Regiment, which was in India from 2 December 1914 : The Battalion was sent to Mesopotamia from 27 December 1917 and deployed to the Kirkuk region of Southern Kurdistan (now Iran) from 23 May 1919 until 18 October 1919, on which date it returned home : Only twenty-eight bars for Kurdistan are recorded on the Medal Roll as being awarded to the East Surrey Regiment : SLATER's medal was issued to him in August 1936 and his death is recorded at at Hillingdon County Hospital on 22 March 1944.) The similar group awarded to 203804 Private-Colour-Sergeant G.H.
