Egypt Campaign Medal 1882-89, undated reverse, bar, 'The Nile 1884-85', correct style of engraved naming - 2049 Pte. W. H. VOWLES, 21/Husrs. (Hussars); Khedive's Bronze Star, dated '1884-6', unnamed as issued : (WILLIAM HENRY VOWLES - Born in 1861 at Poplar, London, a stoker by trade on the date of his attestation, 24 November 1881 : He served at home until 25 September 1884 on which date the Regiment was posted for service in Egypt : During the Gordon Relief Expedition of 1884-85, he was one of the detachment from the 21st. Hussars, consisting of three Officers and forty-three Other Ranks, which served with the Light Camel Regiment : The recipient remained in Egypt until 24 July 1885 when the Regiment returned home : He was transferred to Army Reserve from from 27 July 1887 and discharged on 11 February 1892, having being found medically unfit for further service : His death was recorded at Billericay, Essex, during the last quarter of 1892, at the age of just 31 years.) : Sold with verification, copy Service Papers, copy notifications of birth and death and other related research : Court mounted for display purposes : Some light contact marks but generally Very Scarce GVF - £595
