Leicester Regt.), correctly impressed naming; British War Medal 1914-18 (M-400667 Pte. ASC.) : (HARRY IREDALE - Born at Market Harborough, Leicestershire around 1874, a shoe riveter by trade and a serving member of 3rd.Battalion, Leicester Regiment on the date of attestation, 28 March 1893 : Posted to 2nd.Bn., May 1893 and transferred to 1st.Bn., on 8 November 1894 for service in Barbados : The Battalion was posted to South Africa from 23 December 1895 and took part in the Second Boer War including the action at Talana (Glencoe), and the Defence of Ladysmith : Recipient returned home from 13 September 1902, was placed on Army Reserve and discharged on 27 March 1909 having completed twelve years service : With the outbreak of World War One and at the age of 42 years, on 7 June 1918 he was called up for service with the Army Service Corps : He served in France as a Driver with a Motor Transport Company and was demobilized on 1 June 1919 : Also entitled to the Victory Medal.) : Sold with verification, copy Service Papers, copy 1911 Census Record entry and related research : Generally GVF - £545
