Rl.Highldrs.); King's South Africa Medal, bars, 'South Africa 1901', 'South Africa 1902' (6946 Pte., Rl. Highrs.) : (JAMES MURRAY - Born at Dundee, Forfar in 1880, a millworker and serving member of the 3rd.Militia Battalion, of the Royal Highlanders at the date of attestation for the Regular Army, on 28 April 1898 : Posted to 2nd.Battalion from 23 June 1898 and served at home until 22 October 1899 when the Battalion was sent to South Africa for service in the Second Boer War : SEVERELY WOUNDED at the disastrous Battle of MAGERSFONTEIN on 11 December 1899 : Remained in South Africa until 22 October 1902 at which date the Battalion left for India : Returned home on 23 January 1906 and transferred to the Army Reserve from 27 April of that year : Discharged on 'termination 1st. period of engagement' on 27 April 1910.) : Sold with verification; copy Service Papers and copy Casualty Roll : Generally GVF - £575
