Lan.Hrs.) : (CHARLES HOWARD JAMES - Born around 1888 at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, a glass cutter employed by Pilkington and residing at St Helens, Lancashire on the date of attestation for the Territorial Force, 31 January 1912 : Entered the war in Egypt on 7 January 1916 with 'B' Squadron, 1/1st. Lancashire Hussars : The Squadron moved to France from 29 February 1916 and was absorbed by the 18th.Battalion, The King's (Liverpool Regiment) on 24 September 1917 : Returned to England on 9 October 1917 for infantry training : Selected to be an Officer Cadet for training from 13 November 1917, but being found to be unsuitable for a Commission was returned to the Ranks and attached to 6th.(Reserve) Battalion, The London Regiment from 18 April 1918 : Returned to France from 30 April 1918 until 3 December 1918 : Returned to England on 4 December 1918 and Re-transferred to Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry and demobilized on 23 March 1919 : Awarded Silver War Badge and a pension for 30% disablement in consequence of deafness attributed to military service.) : Sold with verification and copy Service Papers : Approximately 100 Territorial Force War Medals awarded to the Lancashire Hussars : NEF - £685
