868002 LAC. EDWARD HALL LEE, R.A.F. AIR SEA RESCUE, MARINE CRAFT UNIT

1939-45 Star; ATLANTIC STAR with 'France and Germany' clasp; Defence Medal; War Medal 1939-45 (all unnamed as issued) : (EDWARD HALL LEE - Born 22 June 1907 at Blyth, Northumberland,a painter and decorator by trade enlisted in the Royal Air Force from 12 May 1939 joining 938 (County of Northumberland) Balloon Squadron AAF. He was transferred to 15 BC (Baloon Centre) Long Benton, Newcastle Upon Tyne from 23 December 1939 and returned to 938 Squadron on 23 January 1940. He left 938 Squadron early in September 1942 and spent some time at RAF. Corsewall and RAF. Arklington, prior to joining No.15 Air Sea Rescue, Marine Craft Unit at Blyth on 21 February 1943. He subsequently served with the Marine Craft Units at Hartlepool and Calshot/Ostende (No.32 ASR.) finally returning to No.15 ASR. at Blyth from 9 January 1945. He was released from the service on 29 August 1945. He married Catherine Maude Sale, at Newcastle-Under-Lyme on 7 September 1940 and they resided for many years at her parents home in Warwick Street, Chesterton, Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, which is the address where all the medals were sent. Later they moved to 11 Winterside Close, Newcastle-Under-Lyme. EDWARD LEE died in the St Quentin Nursing Home at Newcastle-Under-Lyme on 19 December 2001.): Sold with Defence Medal awarded to father-in-law Mr J.E.
