Queen's South Africa Medal, bars, 'Transvaal, 'South Africa 1902' (7669 Pte. Rifle Bde.); 1914 Star (7669 Cpl. 1/Rif.Brig.); British War Medal; Victory Medal 1914-19 (7669 Cpl. Rif.Brig.) : (WILLIAM BRICKNELL - Born around 1882 at St Adgates, Oxford, a Grocers Assistant at the time of Attestation on 5 March 1900. Remained on home service with 4th.Battalion until 14 April 1902 when he was posted to 2nd.Battalion for service in the South African War. Subsequently served both in Egypt and India and returned home to England on 7 February 1908. Transferred to Army Reserve from 23 August 1908 and was re-engaged on 15 September 1911: Mobilized at Winchester on 5 August 1914, and promoted to Corporal from the same date: Entered France with 1st.Battalion on 23 August 1914: Reverted to Private at own request on 14 October 1914 and was posted to Home Depot on 18 December 1914: Discharged in consequence of sickness, "No longer physically fit for War Service" on 12 July 1916, entitled to Silver War Badge.) : Sold with verification and copy Service Papers: Entitled to 1914 Star Clasp: GVF/NEF - £320
