HENRY HAYWARD, 2ND. BN. RIFLE BRIGADE, SEVERELY WOUNDED BEFORE SEBASTOPOL 15 JUNE 1855

Crimea Medal 1854-56, bars, 'Alma', 'Inkermann', 'Sebastopol', lugs clipped from top bar, officially engraved naming by Hunt & Roskell in bold upright serif capital letters - PTE. HY. HAYWARD 2ND. BN. R. BDE.: Turkish Crimea Medal, Sardinian issue, 'La Crimea 1855', double ring suspension, unnamed as issued. : (HENRY HAYWARD - Born around 1836 in the Parish of Walcot, near Bath, Somerset, attested on 4 April 1854 at Larkhall, Bath, for the 2nd.Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Served with the Regiment in the Crimea and is confirmed as being present at the battles of the Alma and Inkermann. On 15 June 1855 he was in 'The Quarries' before Sebastopol, when a fragment of shrapnel struck his forehead, sliced off his left ear, broke his left collar bone and scapula. He was invalided to England and discharged at Chatham on 15 October 1855, 'having been found unfit for further service'.) : Sold with verification, copy Service Papers, copy Casualty Roll entry and other related research.
