British War Medal; Victory Medal 1914-19 (J.56277 AB., RN.); Defence Medal 1939-45 (Unnamed as issued) : (FREDERICK GEORGE STAMMERS - Born on 9 May 1894 in Bermondsey, London, a metallic works labourer at the date of joining the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman, on 31 July 1916 : He served in the Armed Cruiser HMS.'Ophir' from 18 August 1916 to 11 June 1917 and following a short period at the shore establishment, HMS. 'Pembroke', joined the crew of HMS. 'Marshal Soult' on 16 September 1917 : 'Marshal Soult' was a Ney-class Monitor constructed by Palmers of Jarrow in the opening years of the First World War and launched in August 1915 : Designed for inshore operationa along the sandbank strewn Belgian coastline it was equipped with two 15-inch guns taken from a battleship : 'Marshal Soult' performed numerous bombardment operations against German positions in Flanders, including the First Ostend Raid in April 1918 : The recipient left the ship on 24 November 1918 and was demobilised to shore on 27 January 1919 : He joined the Metropolitan Police as a Constable from 22 November 1920, Warrant Number 111019, and during his service was issued with collar numbers 849J(Bethnal Green) and 594H (Whitechapel) : In the 1939 Register he is recorded as then serving at Bow Police Station : He died at St Thomas' Hospital, Lambeth on 24 July 1947 whilst still a serving Police Officer : His last known address is given as 40 Alexandra Street, London, E16.) : Sold with verification and copy Royal Navy Service Record, copy Metropolitan Police Orders confirming death.
