British War Medal; Victory Medal 1914-19 (Rev.H.W.Hinde) : (HERBERT WILLIAM HINDE - Born at Thorpe, Norfolk in 1878: Prebendary Hinde was educated at Pembroke College Cambridge (M.A. 1903) and at Ridley Hall, Cambridge: He became a Priest in the Diocese of Ely in 1901: He was a Curate in Cambridge 1900-1905; Hatcham 1905-1909; Vicar of St John the Baptist, Ipswich and Chaplain of St John's Boys Home 1909-1921; Chaplain of East Suffolk and Ipswich Hospital 1914-1915 and of Ipswich Workhouse and Infirmary 1916-1921; Chaplain to the Forces 1918-1919: He served in France from May 1918 and was wounded: He was Vicar and Rural Dean of Islington 1921-1932; Prebendary, St Paul's Cathedral from 1928; Principal of Oak Hill College, Barnet 1932-1945; Commissioner for Kyushu, Japan 1935-1942; Principal, London College of Divinity 1942-1944; Vicar of Fairlight, Hastings from 1945: He was the author of, "A Life Of Love" (1929): He is mentioned frequently in the book, "Witness To The Word", a history of Oak Hill College 1932-2000, which contains a photograph of him and details his contribution made to the setting up of the College.
