SECOND LIEUTENANT LESLIE DUNCAN YOUNG, 2ND/7TH MANCHESTER REGIMENT :

British War Medal; Victory Medal 1914-19 (2. Lieut.) : (LESLIE DUNCAN YOUNG - Born 16 April 1893 at Manchester, attended The Loretto School from 1907 to 1910 where he gained a great reputation as a long distance runner : On leaving school he obtained employment as a Clerk in a Shipping House in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil : With the outbreak of war he returned to England where he resided with his widowed mother at Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester and on 8 August 1916 he attested for the 28th.(County of London) Regiment (Artists Rifles), but on 17 December 1916 he was discharged having been granted a Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the 2/8th.Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers, he entered the War in France on 10 April 1917 : In June 1917 he was transferred to 2/7th.Bn.
