Correctly named on reverse in embossed capital letters - 260 Corpl. H.BEAUMONT, 3rd. Dragn. Gds. (3rd. Dragoon Guards) : (HENRY BEAUMONT - Born in the Parish of Hornsey, London around 1837, a clerk by occupation at the date of attestation for the 10th.Hussars, at Aldershot on 17 October 1855 : Transferred to 13th.Light Dragoons from 1 November 1856 and then to 3rd. Dragoon Guards from 3 March 1857 : Promoted to Corporal from 1 February 1862 : Served in the Abyssinia War of 1867-68 and is confirmed as one of the eighteen men detached from his Regiment and employed as a First Class Inspector with the Land Transport Train : Re-engaged as Corporal from 29 June 1868 : In Confinement on 5 December 1868 and subsequently tried and reduced in rank to Private from 9 December 1868 : Transferred to 13th. Hussars from 1 April 1871 and promoted to Corporal on 24 November 1874 : Discharged on 24 October 1876 having completed in excess of 21 years service : Royal Hospital Chelsea Out Pensioner from date of discharge and In Pensioner from 1 July 1898 : Died at Chelsea on 17 March 1899 ) : Sold with verification, copy Service Papers and related research : Trace of usual solder repair at claw : Only 219 medals in total for Abyssinia to the Regiment and scarce to a man who served with the Land Transport Train : Generally GVF - £645
