CRIMEA MEDAL 1854-56 : HMS. 'ALBION'

Bar, 'Sebastopol', loose on ribbon, officially engraved naming in bold upright serif capital letters, by Hunt & Roskell - DENs SULLIVAN : AB : HMS . ALBION . : (DENNIS SULLIVAN - Born around 1829 at Cork, Ireland, joined the Royal Navy and served as an AB. in HMS. 'St Vincent' from 31 March 1846 to 26 July 1847 and then in HMS. 'Terrible' from 7 December 1847 until 27 September 1849 : Subsequently served in the Crimea in HMS. 'Albion' and was present in the ship when it went into action on 17 October 1854 with the Naval Squadron during the bombardment of the Forts on the North Side of Sebastopol Harbour : In this action the ship suffered nine killed including Lieutenant P. Chase, with a further seventy-one men wounded : The recipient's Crimea Medal was delivered to him on board the ship on 30 December 1855 and he was 'Paid Off' on 5 January 1856 at which time his character was noted as 'Very Good' : The recipient is also confirmed as entitled to the Turkish Crimea Medal.) : Sold with verification, some copy Service Papers and related research : Light contact marking and one or two edge bruises but naming not affected : Generally better than VF - £495
