CRIMEA WAR MEDAL 1854-56, HMS. 'RODNEY' NAVAL BRIGADE

Bar 'Sebastopol', officially impressed naming - GEO. THOMPSON, A.B. : (GEORGE THOMPSON - Would have been present in HMS. 'Rodney' during the bombardment by ships of the Naval Squadron of the Forts on the North Side of Sebastopol Harbour on 17 October 1854. He is recorded on the Roll of Officers and men from that ship who served in the Royal Naval Brigade before Sebastopol. ADM.171/24 and is additionally recorded as serving with the men from No's 4 & 5 Batteries above Balaklava. His medal was delivered to him on board the ship. Reference is made on the Medal Roll to another man named Geo.W. Thompson who is shown on the roll of HMS. 'Stromboli', he was entitled to the medal with the bars for Sebastopol and Azoff, but medals awarded to the crew of HMS.'Stromboli' were not officially impressed.) Sold with verification EF - £725
