'Turquoise' from 29 September of that year, and was advanced to Ordinary Seaman on 3 March 1888 : Took part in the Witu Expedition of 1890 and was advanced to AB. from 17 June 1891 : Continued to serve both at sea in various ships and ashore, joining HMS. 'Hawke' from 23 August 1896 : Advanced to Leading Seaman on 1 May 1898 and moved to HMS.
