INDIA GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1854, 101ST. REGIMENT (ROYAL BENGAL FUSILIERS & ROYAL MUNSTER FUSILIERS) : :

Bar, 'Umbeyla', officially impressed naming - 389 M.FORRESTER, HM's 101st.Regt. - (MICHAEL FORRESTER - Served with the 101st. Regiment (Royal Bengal Fusiliers), in the Umbeyla campaign between 20 October and 23 December 1863, during which the Regiment took a large part in all the fighting and lost three Officers and nineteen Other Ranks killed with two Officers and sixty-three Other Ranks wounded : He is confirmed on the Roll as receiving his medal on 3 August 1870 : In 1881 the Regiment became The Royal Munster Fusiliers, and the recipient continued to serve with the Regiment until 18 July 1882 on which date he was discharged at Netley to Army Reserve, on completion of his second period of engagement.) : Only some 325 bars for 'Umbeyla' were awarded to the Regiment : Sold with verification and related research - Suspender swivel slightly slack otherwise.
