Bar, 'Umbeyla'. officially impressed naming - 389 M.FORRESTER, HM's 101st. Regt. : (MICHAEL FORRESTER - Would have attested for HM.101st. Regiment around 1862 (Previously The Royal Bengal Fusiliers prior to joining the Home Establishment in 1861) : He served throughout the Umbeyla Campaign which commenced in October 1863, during which the Regiment suffered the loss of three Officers and nineteen Other Ranks killed, with a further two Officers and sixty-eight Other Ranks wounded : In 1881 the Regiment became 1st.Battalion, The Royal Munster Fusiliers from which the recipient was discharged at Netley on 18 July 1882 on completion of his second period of engagement : Only some twenty-six Officers and two hundred and sixty-four Other Ranks from the 101st.
