INDIA GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1854, INDIAN MARINE SHIP 'ZENOBIA' :

Bar, 'Pegu', officially impressed naming - Wm. RODGERSON, A.B. "Zenobia" (Awarded for the second campaign in Burma caused by the refusal of the King of Ava to abide by the Treaty of Yendaboo signed on 24 February 1826 at the conclusion of the First Burma War. The campaign commenced on 28 March 1852 and ended on 30 June 1853. A total of 351 medals with the bar for 'Pegu' awarded to crew members of the Indian Marine Ship "Zenobia" 242 of which going to Europeans). Mounted on long length of somewhat grubby original silk ribbon, some slight rubbing to first three letters of surname, but naming perfectly legible : Generally Scarce NEF - £475
