Bar, 'Chin-Lushai 1889-90' - officially engraved naming in Indian running script - G.S.C. CLIFFORD, Supdt. Postal Deptt. : (GEORGE STAUNTON CONSTABLE CLIFFORD : Born 2 November 1867 in India, the son of Major Richard Cormick Clifford, 10th.Regiment Madras Infantry. Christened at Darjeeling. Recorded in "India Civil and Military List of July 1890" as Assistant Superintendent, Eastern Bengal Postal Circle, Steamer Service. Married at Rangoon 10 January 1898 to Clara Margaret Mower. Recorded in Indian Army Volunteer Corps List of October 1902 as Lieutenant, Rangoon Volunteer Rifles from 1 March 1901. Resigned Commission in November 1904. Shown as a Director in the company of Mower and Co. (his wife's family), based in Rangoon and London and was also Director of Rangoon Oil Company by 1910.
