INDIAN MUTINY MEDAL 1857-58, 72ND. HIGHLANDERS :

Bar, 'Central India', officially impressed naming - Wm. NELSON, 72nd. Highlanders : (WILLIAM NELSON - Attested for the 72nd.(Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders), on 22 December 1843 and served a total of 21 years, 27 days being discharged at his own request on 10 January 1865 : He had served at Gibraltar and in the West Indies, North America, Malta, the Crimea and East Indies during the suppression of the Sepoy Mutiny : He was twice tried by Court Martial and received terms of imprisonment, firstly in April 1848 and then again in October 1853 : He was present at the Siege and Fall of Sebastopol in 1855, for which he received the Crimea Medal with bar : During the Indian Mutiny he was present at the Siege of Kotah in March 1858, where the 72nd. Highlanders were in the front line of the assault, and later took part in the Battle of Bunnass on 14 August 1858.) : Sold with verification and copy Discharge Papers : Contact marks and some edge bruising but naming is not affected : Generally VF - £425
