Bars, 'Tugela Heights', 'Orange Free State', 'Relief of Ladysmith', 'Laing's Nek' - 3320 Pte. C.J. ACOURT, 2nd. E. Surrey Regt. : (CHARLES JOHN ACOURT - Born 27 November 1869 in the Parish of St Pancras, London, a labourer by trade when he first attested for the East Surrey Regiment at Kingston On Thames on 17 January 1891 : Served with the Regiment at home and in India until 20 October 1899 when he was sent to South Africa : Wounded in action at Almonds Nek on 14 June 1900 and invalided to England on 19 October 1900 : Discharged on termination of first period of limited engagement on 16 January 1903 and transferred to Army Reserve : Discharged on termination of Reserve engagement on 23 January 1907 : Recalled for service and attested for the Royal Engineers on 2 July 1918 but transferred to Class 'W' Army Reserve for Signal Service and discharged the following day as 'Surplus to Military requirements' : This is his only medal. ) : Sold with verification; copy Service Papers; copy Record of Baptism and Marriage certificate; copy Casualty Roll entry and other related research GVF - £295
