Bars, 'Cape Colony', 'RHODESIA', 'South Africa 1901' (last bar loose on ribbon), officially impressed naming - 11193 Tpr. W. SNOW, 61st.Coy. 17th.Impl:Yeo:(South Irish : Dublin) : (WILLIAM GEORGE SNOW - Born in the Parish of Kells, County Meath, Ireland around 1870, a farmer by occupation : Attested for the Imperial Yeomanry on 10 January 1900 and served in South Africa with 61st. Company, 17th. Battalion in 1900 and 1901 : Subsequently found to be medically unfit for further service and was discharged at Shorncliffe on 21 June 1901 : Died of pneumonia at Kells, County Meath, Ireland on 13 December 1902, at just 32 years of age : First two bars authorised on Medal Roll dated 6 June 1901 : A Supplementary Medal Roll dated 28 August 1903 authorised the award of the bar for 'South Africa 1901' by which date the recipient was deceased and is probably the reason why this bar was never attached with the other bars on his medal.) : Sold with verification, copy Service/Discharge Papers and copy Death Certificate : Scarce NEF - £495
