No bar, correct style of engraved naming in bold upright serif capital letters, W. WARNER, Stoker HMS.'Tenedos' : (WALTER WARNER - Born 20 July 1852, at Kentish Town, London, a bricklayer by trade when he joined the Royal Navy on 6 November 1867 as a Boy 2nd. Class : At the age of 18 years on 20 July 1870 he is recorded as Ordinary Seaman serving in HMS.'Salamis' and from 29 January 1871 he is recorded as Stoker 2nd.Class in that ship : He served in numerous ships including, 'Princess Charlotte', 'Barrosa'; ''Royal Adelaide', 'Warrior' and 'Indus', before joining 'Tenedos' from 12 April 1878 and was serving in that ship when it took part in the South African Campaign of 1878-79 : He left 'Tenedos' on 27 November 1879 and joined HMS.'Hector', in which ship he remained until he transferred to HM Coastguard as a Boatman at Newhaven from 5 August 1880 : : He served at a number of Stations and was advanced to Commissioned Boatman from 10 January 1887 : On 12 July 1897 he retired to pension from the Coast Guard Station at Southwick, Sussex.) : Sold with verification and copy Service Record : Only 139 medals without bar awarded to the ship : NEF - £695
