Victory Medal 1914-19, correctly impressed naming - 62765 Gnr. C.H. PORTER, RA. (Royal Artillery) : (CHARLES HENRY PORTER - Born Kentish Town, London, enlisted at Croydon, Surrey and entered the war in France on 16 August 1914 with 30th. Battery, Royal Field Artillery and would have seen action at the Battle of Mons, the retreat from Mons to Le Cateau, the action on the Marne and finally the Battle of the Aisne. The recipient was killed in action on 8 October 1914, he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Memorial to the Missing at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre, France.
